A 19TH CENTURY SAILOR'S HALF-BLOCK PICTURE MODEL OF THE GLANCE
with carved sails, rigging with blocks, simple deck fittings, deck house, stowed ship's boat, metal anchor, captan, cathead and other details. The hull with decorated stern, is finished in pink and grey and mounted in a painted moulded seascape with painted sky and headland beyond and hand-written paper label reading GLANCE, off the Lizard. Jan 26·1885, within a glazed fronted wooden display box (frame restored) -- 20 x 35¾in. (51 x 91cm.)
