with communications mast and rigging, deck rails, main and secondary armament, bitts, ammunition chests, anchor, dinghy with thwarts and oars, winch, searchlights, depth charges, wash deflector, superstructure with inflatable over, open bridge, funnel, life rings, torpedo tubes, coal shute covers and other details. The hull with twin rudders and twin three blade propellers, is finished in dazzle camouflage and red, and mounted on a display base with name plate within plexiglass case -- 8½ x 21½in. (12.5 x 45.5cm.)

H.M.S. Grey Goose was built in 1942 and was one of a series of "Denny" type steam gunboats. Planned as miniature destroyers, their steel hulls with steam turbines were intended to provide a superior type of all weather motor torpedo gunboat. However, their vulnerability to small calibre gunfire and their poor acceleration meant that the intended programme for more vessels was cut back: of the planned sixty, only seven "grey" boats were built.
