A Continental Renaissance style parcel-gilt, silvered and agate presentation dagger
Second half 19th Century
The hilt with beast-head finger-guards, 'jewelled' agate mid-section, and terminal cast with mythological figures and twin amorini finial, the scabbard decorated to one side with a battle scene in relief, the reverse with scrollwork and beasts, fitted with a smaller blade and poker, within a hinged red velvet-lined leather case
