Dated 1902, patent registry no. for 1898, printed green crown and globe mark, model no. 2017, signed by C.(harles) H.(enry) C.(lifford) Baldwyn
With flaring cover and spire finial, of baluster form with elongated neck flanked by scrolling foliate handles, finely painted with two woodland birds preening among tall grasses and foliage, the reverse with a small vignette of similar birds resting and in flight, the lower section and fluted foot moulded with stiff-leaf tips
15½in. (39.3cm.) high

Lot Essay

Charles Baldwyn is recorded in his father's diary as painting birds from nature. Even early in his career, his watercolours and paintings of birds were exhibited at the Royal Academy and The Walker Art Gallery in London.
