In 1878 Louis Solon negotiated his third contract with Mintons. This contract gave him the ability to make and sell his own plaques using materials purchased from the factory. Also see Joan Jones, Mintons, The First Two Hundred Years of Design and Production, Shrewsbury, 1993, p. 203 for a vase by Solon decorated with a maiden surrounded by stars, circa 1890.
