A PAIR OF JACOB PETIT STYLE CUSTARD-GROUND VASES ON FIXED STANDS
Circa 1835, incised 2 and 8, respectively
Each of heart-shape, modelled in the neo-rococo taste, the flaring fluted mouth flanked by rocaille-moulded handles, finely painted with a Chinoiserie scene of children at play, either blowing bubbles or creating an imaginary ship out of a sea-saw and sheet reserved on a black ground within gilt enriched moulded scrolls, the reverse with a lush bouquet and butterflies, on a conforming foot and stand
