A CHALCIDIAN TYPE BRONZE HELMET
CIRCA 5TH/EARLY 4TH CENTURY B.C.
With shallow curve at the brow, cut-away ear recesses and curved neck-guard, a pair of scrolling volutes above the brow, the central inverted 'v'-shaped contour with faint traces of a palmette, stylized curled hair below which forms the body of a chased long snouted sea monster with bared serrated teeth and lolling tongue, single and double rows of punched arcs around the helmet edge, with attachment holes around the neck-guard and ears, the pair of hinged cusped cheekpieces with pierced hole in the lower corner, restored, modern hinge pins
