Tasting note: dense purple-garnet, right to the edge, with fragrant black fruit aromas, with spice and toastiness. 1993 is the third vintage when Michel Rolland was involved as consultant at Masseto, and he has hit his stride. This burly wine has powerful structure and rich middle palate, with strong tannins and excellent length. Last tasted in 2000. I felt it needed at least two years to soften, so this should now be magnificent. A.H.
