A UNIQUE 9 LITRE BOTTLE OF TENUTA DI TRINORO, 2000

At the time of cataloguing, this was the only 9-litre bottle produced by this exciting new Estate (1992) situated high in the Siennese hills between Tuscany and Umbria. Production from the Cabernet Franc (70, Merlot and other Bordelais varietals is limited to a miserly 20 hectolitres per hectare and the resulting wine is astoundingly rich and concentrated. Following selection, the 1999 vintage produced only 800 cases of wine which received rave reviews and comments such as this from Robert Parker in his 'Wine Personalities of the Year' in 2001 - 'Andrea Franchetti is fashioning remarkable wines that offer complexity and compelling richness of Cheval Blanc were produced in Tuscany, it might be here' (Wine Advocate, December 2001). The 2000 vintage is considered superior to the '99 and in this impressive format will offer the buyer a tantalising future prospect, whether to cellar or consume!
Tenuta di Trinoro--Vintage 2000
Tuscany. Tenuta di Trinoro
Autographed label by Andrea Franchetti
Tasting note: very deep purple, the nose being intense, ripe and lush. This was made from 70 Cabernet Franc, assembled with 20 Merlot, 6 Cabernet Sauvignon, and 4 Petit Verdot. Tasted from barrel, it was spectacularly powerful, sweetly ripe, mouth-coatingly tannic, the aftertaste being rich with glycerine and ripe fruitiness. AH.
