Pierced and carved backrest with quatrefoil motif, sloping armrests, chamfered stretchers, castors to front feet, upholstered seat and panel to backrest

Lot Essay

The original model of the present chair was exhibited at the 1862 International Exhibition along on the display presented by Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co. (see Cooper, p. 104). Variations on Seddon's original design were produced, including the present model in ebony.
