Lot Essay

The Casa Minola, one of two apartments designed by Mollino for the Minola family, is regarded as one of the outstanding examples of the architect's work. The bed was originally recessed into a shallow alcove, the white-padded headboard with flourescent lighting above, and with a pair of extending wall-lights flanking the headboard. The wall against which the bed was placed featured vertical wooden slats, a decorative feature used in a number of other commissions, including Mollino's own apartment.
