Lot Essay

The sitters married in 1764. Their eldest son Lodewijk van Toulon (1767-1840) married Johanna van Nispen. Her grandparants are depicted in lot 44. The male sitter was the son of Ludovicus van Toulon and his fist wife Aleida Maria, van Toulon, née de la Coste. She was the daughter of Vincent van Eijck and Catharina van Eijck, née Hoffkens.

The following lot (47) shows the present sitter's half-brother and his wife.
