A RED LACQUER, HONGMU AND GLASS CURIO CABINET
18th/19th Century
Comprising a central cupboard with two doors flanking a removable stile and inset with red, brown and black lacquer panels carved with double-gourd vases and the characters daji, 'great good fortune', within clouds and scrolling foliage, with a pair of drawers above and below, each drawer front with appliqués carved as archaistic dragons and floral motifs, the sides and back with similar lacquer panels and glass panels painted in reverse with butterflies, flowers, and auspicious fruits, some old damage and minor restoration
