Lot Essay

It is rare to find a Yongzheng dish of this design glazed blue on the exterior. Compare a pair of small bowls with a blue back and cherries enamelled in the famille verte palette, illustrated in Chinese Porcelain, The S. C. Ko Tianminlou Collection, no. 106; while the ruby-red-backed version is illustrated in ibid., no. 105.
