A RARE AND LARGE DOUCAI 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' DISH
Underglaze-blue six-character Kangxi mark within a double circle and of the period (1662-1722)
With rounded sides rising from a tapering foot, the broad center painted and enamelled with alternating dragons and phoenixes on a dense ground of leafy and blossoming peony stems, the well with striding dragons chasing flying phoenixes on a similar ground, the exterior with dragons and phoenixes among stems of chrysanthemum and morning glory, two rim chips and base rim chip restored
14½ in. (37 cm.) diam.
