Lot Essay

Joan of Arc, born in Champagne 1412, inspired by holy voices she persuaded the court of Charles VII of France to allow her to lead a campaign against the English and Burgundian Court, leading to their expulsion from Orléans in 1429. As the French forces approached Paris, Joan was captured and sold by John of Luxembourg to the English and her enemies, lead by the Bishop of Beauvais, and convicted. Joan was burnt at the stake for withcraft in Rouen 1431.
