Two similar German silver candlesticks
One, mark of Christian Lieberkühn the Younger, Berlin, circa 1750, the other, mark of Humbert & Sohn, Berlin, 1821-1841
The earlier candlestick, on spreading octagonal base with domed centre, with baluster knop above, the lower section of the octagonal baluster stem with ribs at the angles, the upper section engraved with FR monogram on foliate scroll with Royal Prussian crown above for King Frederick the Great, the vase-shaped socket with fitted octagonal nozzle, engraved with weight under base, the other candlestick of slightly varying form, the base engraved with FWR monogram with Royal Prussian crown above as borne by the Kings Friedrich Wilhelm, engraved with weight, marked underneath bases
One, 5 7/8in. (15cm.) high, the other, 6in. (15.3cm.) high
