Mark of J. Wagner & Sohn, Berlin, the ewer dated 1842, the basin, 1845
The melon-fluted ewer and basin each with shell and foliate scroll borders and on four shell and foliate scroll feet, the bowl chased with alternating panels of diaperwork, acanthus and bullrushes, the baluster shaped ewer chased with panels of flowers and applied with flowerheads, each engraved with WR monogram with Royal Prussian crown above for King Friedrich Wilhelm IV and with date, each marked on base, the ewer with scratchweight 3 M 6 1/2 L TH, the basin 4 M 9 3/4 löth
The ewer, 9¼in. (23.5cm.) high, the basin, 13in. (33cm.) diam.
