Lot Essay

This camera was made in the Reid factory and the chrome, for example, is very clearly by Reid. The accompanying letter from David Stevens explains the camera's history: 'This is to confirm that this camera no. 291955 was manufactured by Reid & Sigrist at their Braunston factory and was one of six privately made and engraved on the rangefinder and bottom cover to the original drawings received as reparations from Germany after the 1939-1945 war. This lens was purchased privately from T.T. & H. by an employee and is the same as the one fitted to the Reid camera. The camera is a direct imperial camera of the metric 3c' (sic)
