Further details

Frenet, photographer from Lyon, was also a painter and a student of Ingres. After 1852, he turned to photography, but the authorities forced him to close down his studio under the pretext that he was producing licentious photographs. His work was primarily focused on the art of portrait photography.

Frenet, photographe originaire de Lyon, fut également peintre et l'élève d'Ingres. Après 1852, il se tourne vers la photographie mais les autorités l'obligent à fermer son studio sous le prétexte qu'il produit des photographies licencieuses. Son oeuvre fut essentiellement axée sur l'art du portrait.
