A lacquer writing box and cover (Suzuribako)
Edo Period
of rectangular shape with bevelled corners and overhanging lid, decorated in gold and silver hiramakie and takamakie with a pavillion in a tree-lined rocky landscape, the underside of the cover with cranes perched on tree branches overhanging a flowing stream, the interior with drop-in fitted tray, all on nashiji grounds, inkstone and fan shaped mizuire in a further drop-in section -- 9in. (22.9cm.) wide, (minor wear).
