A Karura [Crow's-Beak] Mask
Edo Period (Late 18th Century)
The mask of good form, black-lacquered, the beak showing signs of having been re-lacquered, with simple odayori no kugi [pegs beneath the chin], the four-tier black-lacquered iron itamono yodarekake [throat defence of solid plates] laced in dark blue sugake odoshi [spaced lacing]
