Manuscript text on paper with colour illustrations of weapons, armour, banners and other accoutrements on fifty-five double-page spreads, bound in fukurotoji-bon style, with blind-printed blue-paper wrapper and paper label inscribed Edo onbugurui gazu, the last with an explanatory colophon (see below) dated Kaei 5 (=1852) and the names of Uehara Saburo Arimasa, Bugu Shigai [Comptroller of Armour], and Goto Bungoemon Hirokata, Bugu Bugyo [Commissioner of Armour]
