An Oribe Kashibako [Sweetmeat Box] and Cover
Edo Period (Early-Mid 19th century)
Square with lobed corners, the flanged lid with a loop handle, the box supported on four simple loop feet, the pale body covered in a partly crackled whitish glaze impressed in places with a cloth texture, the interior of the box and the exterior of both box and lid with simple iron-brown geometric and floral designs, a quarter of the exterior covered in a splash of dark green glaze
4¾ x 7 1/16 x 7 3/16in. (12 x 18.0 x 18.2cm.)
