A Rokubei School Chaire [Tea-Caddy], A Bizen-Style Chaire, A Takatori Chaire and Another
Edo Period (The First 18th Century, The Others 19th Century)
The first tall with slightly tapering sides and a constriction near the top applied with two loop handles, the dark body covered in a variegated dark brown glaze with a splash of darker colour on one side and a grey crackled glaze showing through in places, with fitted wood box; the second almost cylindrical with prominent circumferential marks, the dark brown body covered in a variegated olive and dark brown glaze reaching down to the base in one place, with fitted wood box and three silk brocade wrappers; the third almost cylindrical with a wide flattish shoulder, the fine dark-brown body covered in a variegated olive, green and black glaze pooling in several places above the unglazed lower part of the sides, with a silk brocade wrapper; the last with slightly everted sides with prominent circumferential marks, the dark-brown body covered in a dark olive glaze with areas of dark brown, with fitted wood box and silk wrapper; all with turned ivory lids, the third with the knop missing
