Super-chancery 2° (303 x 204mm). Collation: Book V-end: aa-xx10 yy.. 1-910 108. 220 leaves (of 554, lacking the first 23 quires containing books I-IV). 56 lines and headline, double column. Type: 2/6:150G, 3:74G. First leaf illuminated with 7-line historiated initial in gold and colours with floral extension, coat-of-arms painted in lower margin, 3- to 7-line initial spaces, some with guide-letter. (Two small wormholes in first four quires, some light spotting, very light dampstain in final 2 quires.) Italian 18th-century gold-tooled vellum over thick pasteboard, ARMS OF POPE PIUS VI ON SIDES, spine gilt, lettered in second compartment. Provenance: a few early annotations -- Pope Pius VI (Giovanni Angelo Braschi, 1775-99, binding) -- Charles and Mary Lacaita of Selham, Sussex (bookplate) -- G.R.
