Chancery 4° (197 x 142mm). Collation: a-b6 (a1r title, a1v blank, a2r table, a3r text, b5v colophon, b6 blank). 11 leaves (of 12, without final blank). 31 lines. Type: 4:130G. 3- to 4- line woodcut lombard initials. (Very light browning.) Early 19th-century brown half sheep (rebacked and recornered). Provenance: Georg Kloss (bookplate) -- Henry Marshall (bookplate, presentation inscription from his father) -- Medical Society, Kings County (stamp on title verso).

The humanist scholar Pier Candido Decembrio was born in Vigevano near Milan, where he moved to work as a secretary for the Duke Filippo Maria Visconti. First published about 1474, De genitura hominis is a short treatise on gynaecology, conception, childbirth, and the astrological influences which govern human reproduction.
