GUIDO DE MONTE ROCHEN. Manipulus curatorum. [Augsburg:] Christman Heyny, [14]'71' [1481].
Chancery 2° (268 x 197mm). Collation: [110 2-158] (1/1 blank, 1/2r tabula, 1/4r preface, 1/5v text, 15/8v colophon with date 'Anno lxxi'). 121 (of 122, without first blank) leaves. 34 lines. Type: 1:119G. Woodcut Maiblumen (opening preface), lombard, and outline initials outlined in red, a few 2- to 3-line initials in red, red capital strokes and underlining, contemporary foliation in red. Last line on 12/8r supplied in contemporary manuscript. Previously part of a Sammelband, with index tab on first leaf. (Dampstain from quire 13, hinges in first and last quire strengthened, marginal wormhole at end, a few marginal repairs.) Modern leather-backed boards (joints rubbed, front hinge loosening). Provenance: a few contemporary marginal annotations -- [?Munich, Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, 'Duplum' pencilled on first leaf].
One of only about 6 books printed by Christman Heyny. The date 'Anno lxxi' is presumably an error for 1481, since Heyny is not known to have been active before that year. Difficulties either in casting-off or imposition resulted in four different collations for the book; the present copy belongs to the 122-leaf variant with 7/7r and 7/8r blank (cf. GW). H *8171; GW 11728; BMC II, 376 (IB. 6463); BSB-Ink. G-445; Goff G-565.
