Collation: a-l8 m6 A4 (a1r title, a1v blank, a2r prologue, a2v text, m5v colophon, m6r four epistles, m6v blank, A1 table of chapters, A4v blank). 98 leaves. 45 lines and headline, double column, a few printed guide-letters. Types: 12:108G (title, first lines of chapters), 8:83G. Major initials in interlocking red and blue, 2-line initials and paragraph marks alternating red and blue.

Median 4°. Collation: aa8 bb10 (aa1r text, bb10r colophon, bb10v woodcut printer's device [A]). (A few small wormholes to a1, faint stain at upper margin, blue occasionally lightly washed.) 18th-century calf, spine gilt with red lettering-piece (scuffed, wear at joints and corners). Provenance: Blois, France (16th-century ownership inscription on a1r, 'Fr[ate] Petrus Auralius Aurelius ordis predicat[orum] conventis blesensis') -- Eric Sexton (bookplates, sale Christie's New York, 8 April 1981, lot 119).
FIRST EDITION of both works. The two works are commonly found together and were probably issued to form one whole. Both texts address points of eccesiastical and secular jurisdiction - Bertrandi's tract was recited on 1 September, 1329, before Philip VI of France and an assembly of prelates and nobles, for the following December. This copy has an interesting provenance, owned in the 16th century by a Dominican frair from the convent in Blois, central France.
