Pauillac, 1er cru classé. Château-bottled
Tasting note: The grand vin of an equally grand vintage.
First tasted in the spring of 1991 it was, unsurprisingly, a dark, mammoth tannic wine clearly with a big future. 'Magnificent' in 1993, it's nose and palate developing well in the mid 1990's though still opaque and intense. Now approaching maturity, it has wonderful depth and resonance; a classic, cedary, Pauillac nose; some ripe sweetness, full flavoured, good length. Still tannic, better still in 10 years. Last tasted June 2000 M.B.
