Tasting note: appearance still impressively deep and rich; a many-layered bouquet - there seemed to be so many things going on - tea, autumnal leaves, black treacle - and still evolving; sweet with substantial latour-like character and weight (their vineyards are next to each other, separated only by a small jalle, more of a ditch than a water course). high in alcohol, almost chewable. Still unready. Last tasted march 2001. M.B.
