AN IMPERIAL AUSTRIAN CASED SET OF PRESENTATION MEDALS,
Comprising seven silver-gilt medals, in various sizes and shapes each depicting a unique allegorical scene of hunting, many including Emperor Franz Josef, all in original Imperial red morocco presentation case, the cover with the Imperial monogram and realistically modelled stag-head trophy, and with inscription Erste Internationale Jagd Ausstellung Wien 1910.

Lot Essay

Hunting and shooting fairs were popular events in Germanic culture. This set of medals presented to Emperor Franz Josef included an example of each awarded as prizes at the competition. The medals were designed by Dr. J. Muellner, H. Schaefer, W. Heida and A. Hoffmann.
