An unusual Steiff teddy bear
with golden mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, large smiling mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed elongated limbs with rare yellow felt pads, hump and button in ear --19½in. (49.5cm.) high, circa 1908 (lacks most nose stitching, right ear sewn on incorrectly, a few slight moth holes to right foot pads and other minor wear)

Lot Essay

This teddy bear 'Otto', was used in a Vienna photographic studio. The Ingret studio was in Lerchenfelderstrasse and operated from the early 1900s until 1939.
