A Steiff teddy bear
with blonde mohair, black boot button eyes, pronounced clipped muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, soft stuffing, jointed elongated limbs with felt pads and hump --13in. (33cm.) high, circa 1905 (bald patch to left cheek, thinning to right side and other general wear); a large group portrait of owner's family, a small oval photograph of the owner as a baby and six other photographs

Lot Essay

This teddy bear was the childhood toy of Marion Hall Longstreet who grew up in Niagra Falls, New York in America. The small oval portrait shows Marion at about 1 years old in April 1905. The family photograph shows the the Hall family in the autumn of 1906. Standing far right in James Hall and seated in front of him is Marilla Fletcher Hall, Marion's parents. Marion is seated on her mother lap.

Other photographs show Marion with her boyfriend and her friend, standing with her husband Willie in their garden and Marion and Bill in the early 1980s.
