An archaic bronze wine beaker (Gu)
Shang Dynasty
its flaring upper section cast with ciccada lappets, the central section and spreading foot decorated with a dense leiwen and taotie pattern band, divided by four vertical ribbed flanges, separated by two plain raised lines, irregular malachite patination -- 11 5/8in. (29.5cm.) high, (restoration to upper section).
