A set of four buff pottery models of equestrian riders
Tang Dynasty
the saddled horses standing four square on rectangular bases, two with their heads slightly lowered and two with their heads outstretched, the riders wearing tunics and hats, seated with their arms held out before them with their fists clenched, one holding a musical instrument to his chest, traces of red, white and yellow pigments remaining -- 13½in. (34.2cm.) high, (minor restoration and old wear).
