Lot Essay

This chair bears the stamp of Thomas (fl.1822-26) or his son John (fl.1842-61) Marsh of Sleaford, Lincolnshire. This stamp is often to be found on the upper surface of the seat and is often accompanied by the word Sleaford. See Dr B.
