Inscribed on the back Knole The Seat of the Dutchess (sic) of Dorset Worked by Jane Edwards MDCCCXVIII

Knole, in Kent, is the largest private house in England and a wonderful example of medieval architecture with Jacobean embellishments.
The original palace was built between 1456 and 1486. Knole was the birthplace of Vita Sackville-West and herds of Sika and fallow deer graze in its 1,000 acre park.
