A SWISS ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX
Geneva, circa 1780, maker's mark 'LFT', with prestige marks resembling the Paris date-letter 'K', the charge mark of Julien Alaterre and the discharge mark of Julien Berthe
Oval box, the panels on cover, sides and base enamelled in purple camaïeu with harbour scenes on an opalescent ground, within fluted gold and white enamelled rims, the outer borders enamelled with wavy strands of opaque white beads, translucent green leaves and ovolos on a sablé ground, the four side pilasters chased with translucent green enamelled vases
