by Jean-Baptiste-François Charité (fl. 1774-1806), marked, Paris, 1781/1782, with the first charge and discharge marks of Henry Clavel 1780-1782, later struck with two Parisian post-1838 restricted warranty marks for gold
Oval box, the cover, four side panels and base engine-turned with horizontal reeding stamped with rows of pellets, within fluted borders, the sides divided by four pilasters chased in four-colour gold with trophies of love, harvest, music and gardening on a frosted ground within oval reserves with cut top and base, the matted gold rims chased in four-colour gold with foliage, scrolls, flowerheads and roses
