Paris, 1755/1756, with the charge and discharge marks of Julien Berthe 1750-1756, maker's mark rubbed, later struck with three French post-1893 import marks for gold and two French post-1838 'bigornes'
Slightly tapering étui of oval section, all over engine-turned with spiralling chevrons, wavy reeded slightly raised rims, the slightly domed cap centred by a rosette, the matrix engraved with a coat-of-arms with count's coronet above
