Lot Essay

Lieutenant Sol was aide-de-camp to Lord Macquarie, 1st military Governor General of New South Wales and known as the father of Australia. His term of office was noted for humanitarian treatment of ex-convicts, encouragement of public works programmes, inland exploration and the creation of new towns.
