Geneva, circa 1800, with the Viennese tax mark of gold 1806/1807, later struck with two French import marks for gold 1864-1893
Octagonal flattened box, the cover inset with a rectangular enamel plaque painted with a romantic mountainous riverside landscape with a couple of fishermen in the foreground, surrounded by a matted gold panel cast with raised scrolling foliage parcel-enamelled in black, white enamelled rim, the base identically framed and centred by a rectangular reserve enamelled en plein with a blue and black flinqué scene of a bird drinking from a tazza against a foliate ground, within a white enamel border, the sides engraved with horizontal diaper bands flanking translucent blue guilloché enamel stripes, the cut corners cast with flowers on matted rectangles
