Oval, the cover set with a cameo depicting 'The Sale of Cupids' in white on a pale apricot ground, the scene with two goddesses bidding on a cupid held aloft by a third goddess, another cupid in a basket awaiting sale, and another clinging to the skirts of a seated goddess, the mount deeply chased with floral borders, the base chased with foliate scrolls and with vacant central oval cartouche, the grille with a scrolling floral and foliate border, marked inside base and cover and on reverse of grille
