EXCEPTIONALLY RARE. ONLY THREE COPIES RECORDED IN ECKEL. NOT IN BMC. "It is definitely known that there is no copy in existence of the first edition of Dickens' third stage effort. Such a condition is not present in relation to any other of Dickens' works. The reprint of the later '60's or the early '70's is consequently the first edition ... as scarce as the scarcest of books, a census accounting for only three copies, all being owned in America." Of these 3 copies recorded by Eckel, 2 were lacking their back wrappers. An American reprint appeared in 1877.
