With nickel-finished jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, wolf's tooth winding, factory-engraved gold cuvette, the white enamel dial with green Roman numerals, gilt Arabic five minute divisions, gold Louis XV hands, the circular case with pearl-set bezel and bow, the hinged back (No. 217586) centered by a finely detailed translucent green guilloche enamel image of a Phoenix, pearl-set border, together with an associated 14K gold, green enamel and pearl-set palmette-form brooch, accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives, case signed by maker and numbered, cuvette and movement signed by maker and retailer and numbered, dial signed by maker

During the second half of the 19th century, Patek Philippe produced a wide variety of pendant watches decorated with translucent enamel on engine-turned backgrounds. Very few examples were produced with detailed imagery, as is the case with the present lot, which features the mythical Phoenix.
