According to the present owner, this watch was formerly the property of tango legend, Carlos Gardel (1890-1935). Gardel's huge popularity as a tango singing sensation in clubs and later movies is still celebrated by millions of fans world-wide. He died tragically in a plane crash in 1935. Although the provenance has not been able to be confirmed, the watch is accompanied with a period white gold chain engraved with his name and the address of his last, and now famous, home on the street Jean-Jaures 735.
