With nickel-finished lever movement, 26 jewels, the black dial with luminous dot, dagger and baton numerals, luminous Mercedes-style hands, sweep center seconds, the tonneau-shaped water-resistant-type case with revolving black bezel calibrated for 60 units, screw back and screw down crown, together with a stainless steel Rolex Oyster bracelet and clasp, case, dial and movement signed

The Submariner model was introduced to the market at the Basel Fair in 1954 after having been tested during Professor August Piccard and his son's Jacques world depth record of 10,335 feet below the ocean's surface. The watch had been fixed to the outside of their bathyscaphe and survived the test.
