The foliate cut brass inlaid brown tortoiseshell case of waisted outline, with ormolu eagle finial and scroll mounts with glazed side panels, raised on four scroll feet headed by female busts, the glazed front door with female figural mount holding sandglass and calipers emblematic of time, the dial with individual white enamel Roman and Arabic chapters, with conforming white enamel centre signed Gilles l'Ainé a Paris, blued steel hands, the later and English twin chain fusee movement with strike on gong; and the associated waisted wall bracket en suite; case 18th Century, dial and movement 19th Century
