Lot Essay
Jean Baptiste Belloc was born in the mid 19th century and worked until his death at about 1920. He studied under Mercié and Thomas, exhibiting at the Salon des Atristes Francais between 1889 and 1913. In 1899 he was commissioned to produce a bust of the Bey of Tunis, and it is probable that the model for this lot was produced at that time.
